Auckland Food Show

A whopping 41,548 people came along to The Food Show in Auckland over the weekend (30 July – 2 Aug), 5,000 more visitors than a year ago.

They came to taste, explore, be inspired and participate in the 10th-year celebration of a New Zealand foodie icon.

Visiting international celebrity cook, Donna Hay, was a huge draw-card, with more than 3,000 people queuing to see her demonstrations at the Electrolux Cooking Theatre and have their cookbooks signed.

Founder and owner of The Food Show, Dona White, is thrilled with the popularity of the show, which now spans a decade. She comments: "Our culinary confidence as a nation has increased enormously over the last decade, and The Food Show is proud to have been part of that exciting evolution."

When the first Food Show was run ten years ago, there were 112 exhibitors and 12,000 visitors. Today, The Food Show is run in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland featuring more than 400 exhibitors and 70,000 visitors each year.

"The Food Show was part of a global trend that was inspiring the home cook to entertain at home, but it also facilitated the birth of a whole new industry of artisan food and wine producers in New Zealand."

"A decade on, socialising and entertaining is still as relevant now as it was then, with people coming to the show, looking for new ideas and inspiration to revitalise their at-home dining experiences."

The Food Show certainly celebrated a decade of decadence in style.
